One of the biggest financial challenges facing Nevada’s doctors is the cost of medical malpractice insurance. Nevada ranks among the highest in the nation for malpractice premiums, which discourages physicians from setting up or maintaining practices in the state. For many, the financial burden is simply too high, forcing them to retire early or relocate.

 

Political advocacy is critical for addressing this issue. Through engagement in the political process, doctors can support tort reform and push for laws that reduce unnecessary litigation and cap liability damages. This would, in turn, lower the cost of malpractice insurance and make Nevada a more attractive state for medical professionals to practice.
